The Brief
The client had a large section of mature hedging, shrubs, and overgrown planting that had become difficult to manage. The area was taking up valuable space along the driveway and garden boundary, while also making future landscaping or fencing work more difficult.
The brief was to remove the unwanted vegetation properly, including the roots and larger material, rather than simply cutting everything back at ground level. The client wanted the area opened up, cleared safely, and left ready for the next stage of work.
As experienced local landscaping and fencing specialists, we were able to carry out the clearance using the right machinery, team, and waste removal process. This meant the job could be completed efficiently, with no need for skips to be left on the drive and no unnecessary delays while waiting for waste collection.
The Challenge
The main challenge for this garden clearance and hedge removal project was the size and density of the existing hedge and root systems. Mature hedging can be much harder to remove than it first appears, especially when roots have become established close to driveways, paths, lawns, and existing boundaries.
The site also required careful access and planning. We needed to work around block paving, a garage, neighbouring boundaries, garden features, and existing planting while keeping the driveway and surrounding areas as tidy and safe as possible.
Because the clearance involved bulky green waste, roots, and timber, the job required more than basic garden tools. Using the correct equipment was essential to remove the material properly and leave the area ready for future landscaping or fencing work.
Our Approach
We started by cutting back and reducing the overgrown hedge and shrubs to make the area safer and easier to access. Once the larger growth had been removed, we used our mini digger to extract stubborn roots and heavier material from the boundary area.
The team worked methodically to remove the vegetation without causing unnecessary disruption to the surrounding driveway, lawn, paving, or neighbouring areas. All waste was loaded directly onto our vehicle and trailer, helping to keep the site organised throughout the job.
Because we hold a higher tier waste carrier licence, we were able to remove the waste ourselves and dispose of it correctly. This is a major benefit for clients, as it avoids skips being left on driveways and ensures the site can be cleared properly as part of the job.
The Result
Modern & Refined
Outdoor Space Transformed
The clearance made a significant difference to the property, opening up the driveway and boundary area while removing a large amount of overgrown vegetation. The area was left much cleaner, more manageable, and ready for the next stage of landscaping or fencing work.
By removing the roots and heavier vegetation properly, rather than simply cutting back the hedge, the client now has a much better-prepared space for future improvements.
This type of work demonstrates why choosing an experienced local landscaping company matters. The right equipment, planning, and waste removal process make the job cleaner, safer, and more efficient.
This project is an excellent example of professional garden clearance carried out properly, with the team, machinery, and expertise needed to tackle difficult vegetation and established root systems.

Callum and his team carried out a fantastic job for me. They removed a very large conifer hedge and replace it with fencing. Callum was very professional and extremely knowledgeable, punctual and very clean and tidy. I would recommend Callum and his team and would definitely use them again.
